With cameras at our fingertips now, the misconception has developed that wedding photography basically consists of showing up with a "real" camera, snapping some pretty pictures and uploading them. In truth many hours are invested into each couple. It requires specialized professional gear including a variety of pro lenses. Skilled wedding photography also encompasses various genres of photography and a skillset that takes years to develop.

Why is wedding photography priced the way it is?

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY IS:

Portrait, product, landscape, fashion, editorial, architectural, family and event photography. And sometimes I would even categorize the reception as sports photography!

It also requires advanced editing skills, wedding day coordinator skills to keep your day on time and running smoothly, the ability to deal well with any and all personality types, the ability to perform at peak under pressure, be creative on the fly, foresee moments that haven't happened yet and deal with unforeseen circumstances.

Weddings are a completely different beast than any other genre of photography. They are fast paced, there are no do-overs and there are once in a lifetime moments that need to be captured right, the first time.

Your pictures will be the one tangible reminder of your day that you will keep for your entire life. In fact, they will outlive you. Choosing the wrong photographer will leave you with an incomplete visual narrative and subpar photos of the one day you put the most love, effort, money and planning into, in your entire life.

EXPERIENCE

A wedding day is fast paced and there are no do overs. I've been a full time professional wedding photographer since 2011. I got you! There are once in a lifetime moments—the emotion when your best friend tries to tell you how happy she is for you, or when the groom first sees his bride or your first kiss. And all the emotion, joy and those details that you have lovingly poured over for months. A good, complete wedding album requires experience.

ORGANIZATION

Before your wedding day I get everything organized in order to give you the best experience. This includes making a list of specific family pictures so this portion of the day is quick and painless, making note of any important heirlooms, planning appropriate locations and distances to keep your day on time, inquiring about any situation that may require extra care or time (for example elderly grandparents or tiny babies) and so on.

GUIDANCE

It's not easy being in front of the camera. It's nothing like taking a selfie or group shot on your phone. It makes me cringe when I see stunning wedding pictures with the most awkward and uncomfortable looking couple. So let's not do that, shall we? I have a knack for drawing out the inner super model. I want you to be at ease, have fun and feel comfortable to show your personality!

EDITING

Professional editing consists of proper colour grading, removing anything that detracts from the picture and retouching where appropriate. Orange or zombie skin is never ok. Bird droppings or gum on the sidewalk? Gross! Once you see it, you can't unsee it. A carefully and thoughtfully edited wedding can take upwards of 30 hours or more. It's not just download and send.

From start to finish for an 8 hour wedding day I invest an average of 55 hours. This includes meetings and phone calls, engagement session, location scouting, planning, organizing and prepping, the wedding day, editing, delivery and follow up.
